Tips and Tricks for Crocheters
Enhance your crochet skills with our helpful tips and tricks. From choosing the right yarn to mastering new stitches, our blog posts are designed to help you improve your technique and create beautiful, professional-looking projects. Get ready to take your crochet game to the next level!
Tip 1. To keep your ends hidden, use a sewing needle instead of a darning needle. Work the needle threw the yarn strands, not under. This will hold the end in place better than simply weaving under the strands of yarn.
Tip 2. If your a beginner, master single crochet, half double crochet, then double crochet in that order.
Tip 3. Don't get too cocky. Count your rows. It doesn't need to be done every row, but at least every 5ish. You do NOT have to frog if you're off a few stitches. Adjust as needed. Use an invisible decrease if you have too many or an increase if you need a few more. Make sure these don't affect your pattern. Don't put them together. (I like to do them at the edges.) Sometimes it takes a few rows to get them in as long as they are not noticeable.
Our story
The story of my craft is quite simple. My mom taught me how to crochet when I was about 10, and it has been a lifelong passion. It’s become my preferred way to unwind—a meditative practice without the formal meditation—helping me relax after stressful days, sad days, usually after a rough day at work.
This craft connects deeply with my work. My students often have difficult pasts, and while we hope to help build better futures with them, some struggle to see past their internalized feelings of unworthiness. My own practice is a reminder of the simple joy and value that creating something with your own hands can bring.
Eventually, my personal "stash" of finished blankets and amigurumi grew out of control! I’m fairly certain my parents, three sisters, friends, and colleagues have enough of my creations by now. This surplus led me to open this shop, where I offer my handmade items to others who might appreciate them.
I also plan to share the joy of this craft by creating YouTube videos to teach others this amazing, calming skill.
I truly hope the items you find here bring a little joy and comfort into your life.
